“This has been a very difficult year and we have seen many heroes, health heroes who have saved lives, who have been on the front line of assistance, but I want this meeting today when we reach 100,000 small farmers in contract farming, harvesting and fixed sales , we can also proudly say that the farmers, that the producers, that Colombia’s supply chain has also been heroic in providing all Colombian families with energy, dynamism and solidarity, “Duque said.
Likewise, he announced that there are already more than 100,000 farmers in the field selling without intermediaries, thanks to the Agriculture By Contract program.
Additionally, Duque stressed that the national government’s goal, in the midst of the pandemic, is to close 2020 with 130,000 farmers in the field enrolled in the program.
