Ethereum Classic [ETC] Geth security warning: "useless drama" solved

[ad_1]

Igor Artamonov, founder and chief technician of ETCDEV, recently announced an Ethereum Classic security alarm. According to him, an unknown person took the administrative control of the organization of the Ethereum Classic community with Classic Geth and removed all other administrators. The team had recommended to all users not to download Classic Geth until the problem was solved.

However, within a couple of hours, the director of the ETCDEV program, Darcy Reno, said that the whole problem was just a mistake by Igor. His tweet read:

"There seems to be a mistake here – Igor had added an owner to their request that is correct and fine. This new owner seems to have restored existing owners to members for some incident or misunderstanding. This user said he will cancel the change today. "

Classic Geth is an Ethereum Classic repository on Github. The latest version of the project was released 2 weeks ago. Geth is the main Ethereum Classic client, a multipurpose command-line tool that runs a complete Ethereum Classic node. This is a Go Language implementation of Ethereum Classic, which supports the original blockchain and its philosophy of immutability, resistance to censorship and distributed resilient applications.

During the brief period of investigation by the ETCDEV team, its director, Anthony Lusardi tweeted:

"We are in contact with GitHub and we are working to regain control, and the user who took over the property did not make any changes to any repository at the time of the tweet, but please note with caution. "

He also mentioned that no changes were made to any repository at the moment. Another ETC developer mentioned on Twitter that "repositories require approved reviewers before a public relations union and all construction pipelines were paused until the situation was resolved. they are currently interested ".

Later, Anthony Lusardi tweeted:

"All is well now, a problem and an incredible amount of unnecessary drama has been solved." Hooray! "
