Ethereum and EOS are fueling more than $ 165 million in volume of weekly transactions on a variety of decentralized apps, while the drive for real-world adoption of cryptocurrency and blockchain overheats.
The new numbers come from State of the DApps, which tracks how many decentralized applications on a variety of blockchains are actually used.
The term decentralized application, or DApp, refers to any software that works on a decentralized network. DApps can be run in a web browser, on a computer or a smartphone and are considered one of the main ways in which cryptocurrency and blockchain technology can reach the mainstream.
So far, most of DApp's volume comes from gaming platforms, a multi-billion dollar global industry. The number one DApp BetDice has generated over $ 129 million in revenue over the last seven days.
BetDice saw a 95% increase in volume in the last week, while the second most popular DAP in terms of volume, hongbao, a Chinese red envelope game, recorded a huge increase in the volume of 1.848% for the same period of time.
Both of these games work the EOS block-block platform that has boosted five of the first six DApps in the last seven days. The other most popular EOS DApps include EOS Poker and EOS Play.

If a popular DApp does not work on EOS, it probably works on Ethereum, which feeds five of the top 10 DApps.
Despite high-volume transaction volumes, developers are still trying to protect more users. The main DApp in terms of daily users is Endless Dice on the EOS network, which has seen almost 22,945 users in the last 24 hours. The DApp with the next highest number of daily users is the advertising platform PRA Candy Box, also on EOS, which drops significantly to 6,458 users.
Compared to the number of people in the Snapchat messaging application, with an average of about 161 million users every day, it is clear that, although promising, DApps have a lot of room for growth and a long way to go towards the mainstream.
