The long-awaited Constantinople of Ethereum has an appointment. It is January 16, 2019. The hardfork will take place around 7am UTC. The date was announced by the developer of Ethereum Afri on Twitter.

The new hardfork would make Ethereum faster and cheaper. According to the developers, the hardfork "would introduce a new wave of distributed ledger technologies". The block in which this hardfork will take place is 7,080,000.
Constantinople is a controversial pitchfork. The hardfork would reduce miners' bonuses from 3 ETH to 2 ETH, but it will also decrease blocking time, making the network faster. Although programmed for a certain period of time, developers have failed to reach an agreement with the miners.
To indicate the expiration date, developers working on Constantinople and community members add Jan. 16 as well as their name displayed on Twitter.
The announcement had no effect on the price of Ethereum up to now, one of the possible reasons why it might be due to the stagnant cryptocurrency markets. Ethereum is currently trading at $ 136, a 0.11% decrease from the last 24 hours. According to the price analysis, it is expected that Ethereum will move sideways for a while.
