Elon Musk said humans will live in glass domes on Mars before terraforming.
The tech billionaire is an avid space travel enthusiast and has invested billions in his SpaceX program in an effort to get humans to Mars as quickly as possible.
He recently took to Twitter to share his vision for the future and said he is certain we will secure a base on the planet soon enough.
Responding to a question about what life would be like, Musk wrote, “Life at first in glass domes. Eventually terraformed to support life, like Earth.”
Expanding the point, he added: “Terraforming will be too slow to be relevant in our life. However, we can establish a human basis in our life.
“At least one future space-traveling civilization – discovering our ruins – will be impressed by humans who have come this far.”

Last month, SpaceX also discussed what life could be like when humans finally manage to land on the Red Planet.
The the plans have been established Starlink’s consumer beta service defines it have been recently sent to customers.
In a section entitled Governing Law, Musk’s company lays out its plans for laws on the Red Planet, stating that it will be based on its own “principles of self-government”, which will be established when the time comes.
The section reads: “For services provided on Mars, or in transit to Mars via Starship or otherwise colonization spacecraft, parts recognise Mars as a free planet and that no Earth-based the government has authority or sovereignty on Martian activities.
“Consequently, disputes will be resolved through principles of self-government, established in good faith, at the time of the Martian resolution.”
Speaking at the recent Mars Society annual conference, Musk said the settlement on Mars should be self-sufficient and not dependent on the Earth.
He said: “This could really boil down to: we will create a self-sufficient city on Mars before or after World War III.
“And I think the likelihood of it being created after the third world war – hopefully there will never be a third world war – but the likelihood of that after is low, so we should try to make the city self-sufficient before any possible world war 3 . “
And yespeaking in September during a “Humans to Mars” virtual conference, the 49-year-old billionaire promised that a Martian settlement would be “glorious”, but admitted it is not without onerisks.
He said: “Getting to Mars, I believe, is not the key issue.
“The key issue is building a base, building a city on Mars that is self-sufficient.
“We will build a propellant plant, an initial base on Mars – Mars Base Alpha – and then we will bring it to the point where it will self-fuel.
“I want emphasize that this is a very hard and dangerous thing, difficult, not for the faint of heart. There’s a good chance you’ll die, it’ll be tough, but it’ll be pretty glorious if it works. “
