Ford recently unveiled an improved version of the Ford EcoSport, the SUV produced in Craiova. This is EcoSport Active, a variant that makes you forget Dacia Sandero Stepway and even Duster when you find out the starting price.
Ford is the second largest automaker in Romania, besides Dacia. From this point of view, it harmonises its strategies according to what the builder does with Mioveni. The Americans recently presented the new EcoSport Active model, the version that matches even better with an SUV to be used on off-road routes.
Now, Ford has also announced the price. One that may make you think of some similar Dacia models.
Ford announced price for EcoSport Active (and some advantages over Dacia)
To get an opinion on what Americans were looking for with the improved version of EcoSport, I must remind you of the statements from that period.
“Ecosport Active will be a new addition to the Active Series that offers more capacity and a robust design for customers looking to take outdoor activities to a new level,” said Roelant de Waard, Ford’s vice president of marketing and sales.
Ford’s announced launch offer includes 125PS 1.0 EcoBoost engine, 6-speed manual gearbox, black roof, SYNC multimedia system with 8-inch touchscreen, black carbon wheel arch, automatic air conditioning, smoky rear windows, electric mirrors and heated, 17-inch alloy wheels, cruise control with speed limiter, fog lights, pre-collision assistance system with post-impact braking. Dacia offers similar features only when the price increases. Sometimes, at least on the Duster, the price can jump well compared to Ford.
All at a starting price of 15,250 euros
Ford says the Ecosport Active has greater ground clearance, better body protection adapted to the toughest roads, but also a number of innovations in exterior and interior design. Ford EcoSport is only produced at the Craiova plant, which is why the Active version will also be produced in Romania.
Currently, the Active version also benefits Fiesta and Focus.
As for the comparison with Dacia Duster, in the basic version Dacia has a better price. But if you want with a multimedia system and touch screen, the price was around 18,000 euros. In the case of Sandero Stepway, the same, if you want with the multimedia system the price jumps to 13,000 euros, but you have the 100 hp LPG engine. At the Dacia Duster there are 130 or 150 hp engines.
