The trend of the dollar today in Colombia has maintained the downward trend which has been going on since yesterday, due to the uncertainty over the election results in the United States.

The opening price of the currency in the local market was 3,781 pesos, but the downward trend continues and the currency has already registered a low price of 3,754.50 pesos. According to the Colombian stock exchange, the average value recorded is 3,765.78 pesos.

The dollar’s performance in Colombia goes against the behavior of the markets in the early trading hours on Thursday. Wall Street reopened optimistic and its leading indicator, the Dow Jones of Industrials, gained 1.67% as the vote count proceeds in some key states and Democratic candidate Joe Biden approaches electoral victory over President Donald Trump, even though it seems unlikely that Democrats will control the Senate.

Half an hour after the start of operations on the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones added 466.23 points, to 28,313.89 units, driven by large listed companies such as Caterpillar (3.85%), Apple (3.58 %), Dow Inc (3.38%) or Salesforce.com (3.26%).

The selective S&P 500 advanced 1.99%, or 68.66 points, to 3,512.10 units; and the Nasdaq Composite Index, in which the major technology companies are listed, it increased by 2.55% or 295.27 points, to 11,886.05 whole numbers.
