A baby born to a mother on a ventilator is the sole survivor of a family wiped out by Covid-19.

The boy’s mother gave birth to him while he was lying on his deathbed attached to a fan in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Svetlana Sorochinskaya, 36, is believed to have contracted the coronavirus while visiting her father Kirey Pinchin, 64, at the hospital where she had undergone heart surgery.

He died of Covid-19 on November 5, eight days after being discharged from the hospital.

At the time of her death Svetlana wrote: “My father … you were the best and kindest man in this world

“I will Always Love You.

“You didn’t have enough time to see your grandson.”

Shortly thereafter Svetlana went to a maternity hospital to give birth, but when her Covid-19 was confirmed she was sent to a major infectious disease hospital.

Three days after admission, the dental clinic administrator gave birth to her son six weeks prematurely while she was attached to a ventilator.

The little girl was called Kirey, named after her late father.

Hours after giving birth, Svetlana died.

Before the new mother lost her life, her mother Vera was also seriously ill.

When she arrived at the hospital for treatment on November 2, there were no beds available, according to Svetlana’s cousin Larisa Kachkaeva.

“She was told to ‘lie down on the floor in the corridor,'” said the cousin.

Ten days after being hospitalized, Vera, 62, died.

The three deaths sparked a custody battle for little Kirey.

Divorced Svetlana refused to name the father of her long-awaited son.

The little girl, assisted in hospital, is now the only heir to her precious property in St. Petersburg, which includes two apartments.

A man identified only as M claimed to be the boy’s father and will undergo a DNA test.

Larisa also offered to adopt and raise the child.

The cousin claims that Svetlana denied that M was the father before dying, saying only that he was a colleague.

He told Fontanka news: “Svetlana said he was not the baby’s father.

“We await the result of the DNA analysis and the court will decide.”

Various sources have questioned the figures, suggesting that the actual totals are significantly higher.
