Restaurant claims it has had no active COVID-19 cases, rather the move is a proactive approach to help stop the spread of the virus
Dairy Queen in Chelmsford says the restaurant was unaffected by the current spike in COVID-19 cases, but has decided to suspend the restaurant service until further notice.
“We have the best interest of the public in mind by closing our dining option right now,” the restaurant posted on Facebook on Nov.9.
“Based on the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in Greater Sudbury and outlying areas, we have decided to take a preventive and proactive approach to help stop the spread of COVID-19 within the community.
“To clarify, Dairy Queen Chelmsford was not affected by the current epidemic.”
Until further notice, the restaurant will only offer in-store take-out, drive-thru, and sidewalk pick-up.
The restaurant is open seven days a week from 8:00 to 23:00
Customers entering the building are required to wear a mask, according to Public Health Sudbury & Districts directions.
Anyone entering the store without a mask will be asked to provide contact tracking information when ordering and will be asked to wait outside the store.
As the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Greater Sudbury continues to rise, a number of local businesses have temporarily closed due to employees or customers testing positive for the virus, including McDonald’s locations in Chelmsford and Hanmer, which they have both reopened since then.
Chelmsford Home Hardware was recently closed after a customer tested positive, forcing the store to close and do a thorough cleaning of the premises.
