It often seems that the whole world of crypto is going to hell in a basket of hands. Maybe we should take refuge knowing that blockchain courses in universities are more popular than ever.
Supply and demand
According to a recent study, 9% of US university students in universities around the world had already taken a related class blockchain and 26% destined to. The courses are there, but the institutions are struggling to keep up with the current demand for them.
Universities like UPenn, Berkley and Cornell offer courses on cryptography, "Blockchain and CryptoEconomics" and "Blockchain, Criptovaluta and Distributed Ledger Technology". Last year, a professor had 100 students competing for only 25 seats in a blockchain class co-taught by her.
Vocation, vocation, vocation
The main driver of this wave of interest is the labor market: in the last three years, the number of Bitcoin's workload on LinkedIn has increased tremendously.There has been a nine-fold increase in jobs in financial services and a four-fold increase in software positions.

Teachers are quick to point out that focusing entirely on the blockchain would be madness. Specializing in an area before a career has even started would be less useful than getting a broader overview of information technology and engineering.
In addition, "tomorrow's blockchains do not resemble those of today," says Emin Gün Sirer, an associate professor of Computer Science at Cornell University. "We are not teaching people how to use current blockchains."

Of course, last year Bitcoin 0 0 mania also raised the cryptocurrency profile outside the classroom. Cornell, UPenn and Berkeley all have active blockchain clubs that have seen increased interest in the entire student spectrum in 2017.
It is good that these future industry leaders are at worst uncomfortable. At best, they are experts in blockchain technology. It will certainly precipitate a refreshing change from the dinosaurs who despise the progress that the cryptic community often treats.
