Dragon crew commander Mike Hopkins, pilot Victor Glover, and mission specialists Shannon Walker and Soichi Noguchi flew Sunday to Kennedy Space Center in a private jet chartered by NASA, ready for a final week of training, refresher courses. and some free time before their launch to the International Space Station.

The astronauts arrived at the Florida spaceport just before 2:00 PM EST (1900 GMT) on Sunday after flying from their base at the Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Ready for a mission that should last up to six months, the crew will be the first to fly on an operational mission aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule.

Hopkins, a 51-year-old US Air Force colonel, will command the Crew Dragon mission. Victor Glover, 44, a commander in the United States Navy, will serve as the pilot of the spacecraft. NASA astronaut Shannon Walker and Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi, both 55, will also travel to the space station on the Crew Dragon spacecraft, called Resilience.

Hopkins and Walker are both veterans of a space station expedition, while Noguchi is ready for his flight into space. Glover is a newbie in space.
