The UK became the first country in the world to approve large-scale use of Pfizer / BioNTech’s new corona vaccine.

The UK regulatory agency Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) said the vaccine can provide up to 95% protection and can be safely marketed next week.

High-risk groups can begin vaccination within days, such as the elderly in nursing homes. The UK has ordered 40 million doses of the vaccine, which can provide 20 million people with two doses per person. Around 10 million doses of the vaccine are expected to be available shortly and the first 800,000 doses will arrive in the UK in the next few days.

Around 50 hospitals in the UK have prepared the injections, and some vaccination sites such as convention centers are also ready.
