It should be remembered that these studies, developed by Johnson & Johnson, were suspended because a study patient had an adverse reaction in the United States.

According to Cimedical manager Andrés Jaller, once they received the green light to continue enrolling patients, they began calling those they had called during the break to do a medical review of compliance with the criteria.

“Since we received the authorization, we have vaccinated between 80 and 90 people. Everyone is happy that the vaccination process has been reopened. Those who wanted to participate are people who want to contribute their grain of sandJaller said.

The head of the research center in the capital of the Atlantic explained that after checking for several weeks if the event that the patient presented was related to the vaccine and not finding any type of relationship, the clinical studies are then continued.

The official added that this pause provides peace of mind and confidence in the process. Furthermore, he indicated that they continue to receive interested patients through a strategy of making a video call with a group of volunteers in an academic and informative space.

We have a database of 1,500 people and we have already mentioned 250. Of them, we have 1,200 people we are calling. The important thing is that the population wants to be part of the study and is well informed, “Jaller said.

Inclusion criterion

In Atlántico, the Clínica de la Costa and the Universidad del Norte Hospital also have Invima’s approval to participate in the study, which is governed by strict criteria for patient inclusion, according to the manager of Cimedical.

These criteria are precisely: people over 18 years of age, healthy and stable comorbidities. In addition, contraindications are evaluated, in which a thorough medical degree is performed.

Once the patient enters the study, he is vaccinated and then followed up one month, then six months, one year, one and a half years later and then two years after vaccination.

“The hiring is closed until the end of November. The trial ends in two years and given the current situation the vaccine could be tested in advance, as it is an emergency”, concluded the head of Cimedical.
