Team members from several Loblaw Inc-operated stores in Metro Vancouver have tested positive for the new coronavirus (COVID-19).
Loblaw Companies Ltd is the parent company of Shoppers Drug Mart, No Frills, and Loblaws City Market provided updates to its COVID-19 employee case lists on November 7 and 8. Shops can be found throughout the region, from Abbotsford to North Vancouver.
The locations and dates of the stores concerned are as follows:
- Ray’s No Frills, 34249 Marshall Road, Abbotsford. The last day the team member worked was October 31st.
- Loblaws Town Market, 1650 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver. The last day the team member worked was November 4th
- Shoppers Drug Mart, 4827 Kingsway, Burnaby. The last day the team member worked was November 1st
- Deepu’s No Frills, 12852 96 Ave, Surrey. The last day the team member worked was October 25th.
The stores are not listed by either Fraser Health or Vancouver Coastal Health as public display locations.
Posting employee cases for transparency: Loblaw
Loblaw says they share updates on test-positive COVID cases in their stores to maintain transparency.
“In these cases, we work closely with public health and follow their directions to ensure proper notification of close contacts and the cleanliness and sanitation required in our stores,” notes the company.
“In all of our stores, we encourage our colleagues and employees to wear masks, especially where physical distance isn’t always possible,” adds Loblaw.
“Whenever we have a positive case, we organize additional cleanups and work closely with the local public health unit to determine the appropriate next steps, including identifying and reporting close contacts. Anyone who meets these criteria from the store is encouraged to go home, self-isolate and monitor symptoms.
“In general, the risk to our customers remains low, due to the physical removal and sanitation measures that have been in place in our stores for months. We publish any positive cases on our website. “
