Coronavirus: Employees at Shoppers Drug Mart in Vancouver, Surrey, test positive

Employees at Shoppers Drug Mart stores in Vancouver and Surrey have tested positive for the new coronavirus (COVID-19).

Loblaw Companies Ltd, the parent company of Shoppers Drug Mart, provided the update to its COVID-19 employee case lists on December 3.

The following shops are affected:

• Shoppers Drug Mart, 370 East Broadway (Kingsgate Mall), Vancouver: The last day the team member worked was November 30th.
• Shoppers Drug Mart, 8962 152nd Street, Surrey: The last day the team member worked was November 30th.

Neither store is considered a coronavirus public exposure site by Vancouver Coastal Health or Fraser Health.

Loblaw says they share updates on test-positive COVID cases in their stores to maintain transparency.

“In these cases, we work closely with public health and follow their directions to ensure proper notification of close contacts and the necessary cleaning and sanitation in our stores,” notes the company.

When there are cases of employee viruses, Loblaw notes: “Generally, the risk to our customers remains low, due to the physical removal and sanitation measures that have been in place in our stores for months.”

T&T Supermarket Coquitlam temporarily closed due to COVID cases

Earlier this week, Loblaw-owned T&T Supermarket announced the temporary closure of its Coquitlam store on Barnet Hwy.

The shop will be closed until Saturday 5th December.

“The situation of the virus a [the] The Coquitlam store is disturbing, “said Tina Lee, CEO of T&T,” so we are determined to eliminate it. “

Lee continued: “It is time for our Coquitlam store staff to take a break and for the company to take even stronger measures.”

T & T will carry out a deep cleaning and sanitizing before reopening. Closing will allow staff to be tested if necessary and the store cleaned.
