Cornell University and Tsinghua University (清华大学) announced this week them have joined forces to host the International Workshop on Blockchain, to be held in Xi'an, China.
According to the learning institutions, the The event was made possible thanks to a grant of $ 150,000 from the Social Alpha Foundation non-profit platform, aimed at blockchain projects for the social good, as well as sponsorship from the Xi'an High Tech Zone, the Institute for interdisciplinary information technology (IIICT) and the Conflux Foundation. The workshop will take place from 10 to 14 December at the Holiday Inn Xi'an in Greenland Century City in the High Tech Industries Development Zone (XHTZ), considered one of China's high-tech areas among the 114 most famous in China.
While sharing more details about the workshop, Andrew Yao (姚 期 智), Dean of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Science of Information (IIIS) of the Tsinghua University, said:
"Blockchain is an innovative technology that has great potential to transform today's business models and processes. Blockchain's scientific inspiration is born of information technology and the information economy, and its growth and Successful future development is vitally dependent on the continuous interaction and collaboration of scientists from many different disciplines.This seminar will allow equally-minded individuals, all with the common goal of advancing technology, to come together and learn from each other ".
The associate professor Shi then added:
