Xi'an, China – December 6th 2018 – Cornell University, an Ivy League research university, and Tsinghua University, a member of the Chinese universities' elite C9 League, have joined forces to host the international Blockchain Workshop, which will be held in Xi & # 39; an, in China.
The event was made possible by a grant of US $ 150,000 from the Social Alpha Foundation non-profit platform, aimed at blockchain projects for the social good, as well as sponsorship from the Xi'an High Tech Zone, the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Technology Core (IIICT) and the Conflux Foundation. The seminar will take place from 10 to 14 December at the Holiday Inn Xi'an in Greenland Century City in the High Tech Industry Development Zone (XHTZ), one of China's high-tech areas of 114 high-tech areas technology.
The workshop was originally founded and hosted by Andrew Yao, dean of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Science of Information (IIIS) of the Tsinghua University and winner of the A.M. Turing Award in 2000 for his contributions to the theory of computation and Elaine Shi, associate professor of computer science at Cornell University and co-founder of ThunderCore, who wrote the first academic research paper on Bitcoin and decentralized intelligent contracts.
This marks the third year in which the two universities have collaborated with Blockchain Winter School, following successes in 2016 on security and cryptography and in 2017 on the blockchain, which were held respectively in Shenzhen and Beijing.
The 150-person invitation event will include a keynote by Thiel Fellow and Ethereum Co-founder, Vitalik Buterin; Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Jacob Leshno; and Stanford University Ph.D. student, Ben Fisch.
Dean Yao said: "Blockchain is an innovative technology that has great potential for transforming today's business models and processes. Blockchain's scientific inspiration is born of information technology and the information economy, and its successful growth and future development is vitally dependent on the continuous interaction and collaboration of scientists from many different disciplines.This seminar will enable the same-minded individuals, all with the common goal of advancing the technology, to come together and learn from each other ".
The event includes talks on the automatic exploitation of Smart Contracts Ethereum, decentralized mining activities in centralized pools, offers of initial tokens and creation of platforms, ZKP (Zero-Knowledge Proof) and RAM Oblivious (ORAM) by speakers from some of the world's most famous companies and universities including Google, Princeton University, MIT, UC Berkeley and King & # 39; s College London.
