Last week, the blockchain development company ConsenSys announced a partnership with Halo Holdings and chip maker AMD to develop blockcat data center solutions. The new collaboration, "W3BCLOUD", will create cloud blockchain workload solutions based on AMD hardware that will be used to support government and commercial requirements.
W3BCLOUD also hopes to "accelerate" the adoption of decentralized applications and to be "the first independent blockchain infrastructure for cloud computing". The announcement states that the goal is to provide greater "transaction throughput" and "state of the art" security.
The founder of ConsenSys and co-founder of Ethereum, Joe Lubin believes that AMD processor technology enhances the "computing power" of blockchain networks as well as "the scalable adoption of emerging decentralized systems". Lubin adds: "The combination of hardware and software will enhance a new infrastructure level and allow an accelerated proliferation of blockchain technologies."
Joerg Roskowetz, director of product management for blockchain at AMD, echoed Lubin's sentiment. Believes that AMD can help achieve blockchain size and encourage decentralized networks to meet "the growing interest from large corporations and governments seeking to address challenges ranging from intelligent identities to data centers business and tracking of health IDs, licensing and supply chain management. "
Halo Holdings is an investment management company based in Abu Dhabi, with a portfolio of large-scale technology and private equity investments worldwide. As the blockchain industry still hears the winter crypt, Halo Holdings has probably joined the aid funding partnership. Although ConsenSys led many blockchain-related investments, in December 2018 it was forced to cut 13% of its 1,100 strong employees. According to Verge, the figure could increase considerably.
ConsenSys is no stranger to cloud hosting. To date, the focus has been on software tools with its Kaleido Blockchain Business Cloud launched with Amazon Web Services in May 2018. The goal is to enable groups to build a blockchain network faster and more easily. Kaleido is designed for Enterprise Ethereum and the JP Morgan quorum. Now it has its market for plug-and-play tools and services.
The AMD alliance has the potential to take a further step by optimizing the hardware drivers. AMD already has special drivers for the extraction of cryptocurrencies.
