On Sunday, Bahrain, Lebanon and Iraq revived the annual Ashura commemoration ceremony, amid pledges to measures to tackle the Corona virus, without such measures appearing in a similar Houthhi celebration in Yemen.
It commemorates the 1380th anniversary of the martyrdom of Hussein, grandson of Prophet Muhammad, and 72 of his family and companions, according to the Hijri calendar, among the measures in the aforementioned countries to address the spread of the Corona virus.
In Manama, the country’s monarch, King Hamad bin Isa, paid tribute on Sunday at the Ashura commemoration ceremony in the country.
He said these ceremonies were held during the follow-up and implementation of precautionary plans to limit the spread of the Corona, “according to the official Bahrain News agency.
Local media in Bahrain cited images that, according to them, showed the commemoration council participants’ commitment to precautionary measures, notably wearing a muzzle and applying a safety distance.
According to the latest official toll, Corona’s injuries in Bahrain reached 51,391, including 189 deaths and 48,275 recoveries.
In Lebanon, the official news agency reported that the Hezbollah and Amal movements revived the memory of Ashura in different regions of the country through car processions and funeral councils, without rallies, in addition to the launch of black balloons.
And he reported that the events occurred in the midst of severe preventative measures due to the Corona virus.
According to the latest official toll, Corona’s wounded in Lebanon were 14,935, including 146 deaths and 4,133 cases of healing.
In Iraq, the Ministry of Health announced that tens of thousands of visitors attended the Ashura commemoration activities, according to the country’s official news agency.
And it indicated that he had conducted a quick survey of tens of thousands of visitors and handed out masks.
The prime minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, said in a speech by the agency that “the message of Ashura and Hussein is the message of peace”, calling for the preservation of Iraq.

In Yemen, supporters of the Houthi group commemorated Ashura in several squares in the capital Sanaa and in the governorates of Dhamar, Amran and Saada (north), Ibb and Taiz (southwest).

As the crowd raised the well-known slogan of the group “Death to America, Death to Israel, Curse the Jews, Victory to Islam”.
In a televised speech on this occasion, the leader of the group, Abdul Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, denounced all forms of normalization and relations with the Zionist entity.
On August 13, US President Donald Trump announced that the UAE and Israel had reached an agreement to normalize relations between them.
The Houthis have not announced any new statistics for Corona’s casualties since May 18, and at that time Corona’s injuries amounted to just 4 cases, including one death, amid official and popular allegations of discretion over the true number of victims.
