China’s Chang’e-5 probe made its first orbital correction Tuesday night, according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA).
The lunar probe was carried by the Long March-5 rocket and took off from the Wenchang spacecraft’s launch site in southern Hainan province at 4:30 am on Tuesday.
The mission, named after the ancient Chinese moon goddess, will seek to collect lunar material to help scientists better understand the moon’s origins and formation.
