PEI has its first confirmed case of COVID-19 in a school, public health chief Dr. Heather Morrison announced Saturday.

Male student goes to Charlottetown Rural High School.

It is one of the two cases announced. The other case is a male between the ages of 10 and 19 who is not a PEI student. He flew to PEI on Thursday on Air Canada Flight 7462 from Toronto.

The cases are unrelated, Morrison said. Both people are isolating themselves at home.

Premier Dennis King said it was too early to make decisions about closing schools next week.

PEI has three cases in the past four days. The latest case was announced on Wednesday, along with three possible exposure sites.

On Thursday, the province said all contact traces to date have turned negative.

The IEP renounced the Atlantic bubble until at least 7 December, which means anyone traveling to and from the province must isolate themselves for 14 days.

The IEP saw a total of 72 cases, with no deaths and no hospitalizations.
