Since Google announced that Chrome OS supports the Play Store, Chromebooks have received a large number of Android programs and games, and users have many more software choices. There is now news that Microsoft intends to mimic Chrome OS and add Android program support to Windows.
The report says Microsoft is developing a new project called Project Latte, which will allow Android programs to run directly in the Windows 10 environment using Windows Subsystem for Linux and an additional Android Layer. It is reported that Project Latte is expected to be launched by the end of 2021, but it is not 100% sure at this stage.
Although Project Latte allows running Android programs on Windows 10, it is not without its drawbacks. For example, the project does not support programs that must be used with the Google Play Service unless the developer is willing to make changes. What’s interesting is that Google used Parallels previously to allow some Chromebooks to run Windows programs, but now Microsoft is hoping that Android programs can run directly in the Windows 10 environment.
