Burnaby’s fitness complex closes as the Fraser Health region grapples with COVID cases

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) – Burnaby’s Fortius Sport & Health Center has announced that they will close their commercial operations, saying they can no longer support them amid growing cases of COVID-19.

“The reality of trying to manage this complicated and dynamic business was difficult. With the additional pressures that the COVID-19 pandemic has put on Fortius Sport & Health and many other businesses, it has become something we could no longer support, “reads an online statement.

“This means that on a date to be determined, we will close all Fortius business operations,” reads a statement on the center’s website.

All current Fortius services will continue at this time and FitFirst Footwear and Starbucks partners will remain open.

The complex is also a hotel that hosts training camps and teams that will be affected by this announcement.

All customers and communities using the facilities will be contacted to find out what the next steps for the facilities and programs will be.
