Blockchain and beyond – Technical information

[ad_2][ad_1]

Learn about the blockchain technology that is transforming companies around the world.

What began as an experiment in buying Bitcoin for a holiday led two brothers to explore blockchain technology and eventually organize a blockchain conference – Blocfest 2018 – which will be attended by over 30 international speakers.

Gwei Tze-Co, 49, started investing in Bitcoin four years ago, in view of a trip to Brazil to participate in the 2014 World Cup.

"I was going to go to Argentina after the World Cup and read that the currency situation was so bad that I could use Bitcoin, I bought a little, but I did not finish using it, "he says.

But that initial investment prompted him to attack blockchain and cryptocurrency, particularly Ethereum.

Meanwhile, Gwei Hway, 43, who is a programmer and has worked in technology companies for the past 20 years, has been attracted to blockchain and cryptocurrency because of his brother's appeal to them.

Tze-Co says that in Malaysia the blockchain is still an emerging technology even though some good local founder projects have been launched.

"However, many people only use blockchain and cryptocurrency for hype – to put it bluntly, there are a lot of scams and many Malays are falling for them," he says.

He says that a conference with legitimate speakers who share their experience could do a lot to educate people on how blockchain can make a difference in their activities.

Adds that once a person understands blockchain technology better and especially how it is used in business, it will be easier for him or her to identify the fake ones.

This is one of the reasons why the brothers are organizing Blocfest through their company, Blockchain Asia Sdn Bhd, which will take place at the Shangri-La Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, on September 26th and 27th.

The two The one-day conference will focus on the potential of blockchain technology in Southeast Asia and will present speakers from various backgrounds, including blockchain entrepreneurs, developers, global investors, academics and enthusiasts.

Discussions at the conference will be divided into three streams – Regulatory, Academic and Enterprise.

The regulations will help you understand the current regulatory landscape and what will be in store for the blockchain; The academy will address academic concepts and their impact on the blockchain; and Enterprise will highlight the technological aspects of blockchain and potential usage scenarios.

Hway expects half of the participants to come from companies that do not know the blockchain technology but are exploring how it might be relevant to them, while the remaining will be investors, academics and experts in the field.

"Networking is definitely an important part of the conference and because many solution providers will be present in the exhibition halls, we expect many companies to make inks or find collaborations," he says.

Participating in the conversation will be the regulators of countries that have begun to explore the issue, including the Taiwanese member Jason Hsu, better known as the Crypto MP thanks to his convinced support for technology, and a representative of the Philippines & # 39; Cagayan Authority for the Economic Zone that drives the efforts of the financial technology of the country

Tze-Co says that there have been talks to involve the Malaysian regulators and share their ideas on the laws required to facilitate the blockchain in Malaysia, but the discussion is under way.

Other keynote speakers to be present at Blocfest are the Dejun Qian encryption platform, founder of Fusion, the founder of ProximaX Ltd, Lon Wong, the anti-counterfeiting system of Wabi CEO Alexander Busarov, and the appointment with the CEO of Viola.AI, Violet Lim.

In addition to Blocfest, participants can take part in several other events during the KL Blockchain Week, which will take place between 24 and 27 September, including a hackathon.

Those interested in participating in Blocfest can get a 40% discount on VIP tickets for $ 450 (RM1,860) or regular tickets for US $ 375 (RM1,550) by entering the promotional code BLOC40D during the checkout but this offer is only available for a limited period.
