Ripple and XRP
After revealing that it will add XRP as a base pair, Binance has announced the first two coins to be combined with the second cryptocurrency by market capitalization. According to Binance's official Twitter account, Tron and Zcoin are now associated with XRP.

Meanwhile, Ripple is playing in the new year with a series of tweets to propagate the growth of cross-border and XRP payments in 2018. Ripple, which holds about 60% of the total XRP supply, uses the digital asset in its xRapid payment solution.

In what may be the cheapest auction in the world, an art work has apparently been sold to the highest bidder using Bitcoin's Lightning Network.
The user of Reddit Cryptograffiti claims to have auctioned a small piece of art called "Black Swan" for $ 0.000000037.
The Lightning Network is a second-level solution designed to dramatically increase the speed at which users can transfer Bitcoins, as well as allowing super small micro-payments to be sent in high volumes.
Ethereum
Bloomberg is giving a closer look at a project to make a whole building in Manhattan.
