A popular sports bar in St. John’s has closed its doors, at least temporarily, following possible exposure to COVID-19.
The management of The Bigs restaurant on Freshwater Road said they learned late Saturday that a person who tested positive on returning from Nova Scotia was a customer at the venue last Monday, November 16.
It was confirmed on Friday that a 20-year-old man in the Eastern Health Region had tested positive after returning from Nova Scotia.
The restaurant will at least close until the test results return for a staff member who was in close contact with the man. If the test returns positive, they will remain closed and all personnel will have to isolate themselves for 14 days.
They say COVID tests would then be required of all staff before they return to work.
