BC announces 525 new coronavirus cases, 27 in the IH region – BC News

The BC government announced 525 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, including 27 in the domestic health region.

The new cases bring the province’s total since the start of the pandemic to 19,239, even though the majority has already recovered. There are 5,133 active COVID-19 cases in BC with 142 people hospitalized, 46 of whom are in intensive care.

Interior Health says 146 cases are active in BC Interior and one person is hospitalized.

There are 9,781 people in BC under active public health monitoring after exposure to known cases.

Three new COVID-19-related deaths were also announced on Tuesday, bringing BC’s toll to 284.

“We need to break the chains of transmission and slow the rise in COVID-19 cases, especially in regions and places of greatest prevalence,” Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said in a press release.

Interior Health released a statement on Tuesday warning residents that tighter restrictions on Lower Continent viruses could get inside if case counts continue to rise.

“Over the next two weeks, and particularly Remembrance Day tomorrow, we honor our veterans for all they have done for our province and nation,” continued Dr. Henry’s statement. “We recognize the sacrifices and hardships they have faced and overcome by making our small sacrifices now.”

“Although the ceremonies may be remote, the virtual poppies and our legions have closed this Memorial Day, we can still show our appreciation, in a safe and respectful way, to the men and women who proudly served our nation.” .
