At HIMSS19, HSBlox will debut with blockchain technology for clinical trials

HSBlox, provider of health products, will debut with HIMSS19, its new Digital Sample Manager system, which uses blockgein distributed ledger technology to improve visibility, transparency and traceability of the chain of custody in clinical trials.

The system provides end-to-end sample tracking and real-time status updates to all chain-level entities, helping to eliminate problems with lost samples and the resulting loss of revenue, according to HSBlox.

Digital Sample Manager provides sample tracking that ensures a streamlined, transparent process with multiple participants, as well as real-time status updates that can be monitored efficiently and eliminate lost sample issues, the supplier added.

Furthermore, the seller has stated that the acknowledgment, reporting and reconciliation of receipts, together with the standardization of the whole process, minimize the need for changes to existing workflows.

"During clinical trials, multiple biological samples are collected, usually at various clinical trial sites over a long period of time," said Lynn Carroll, head of strategy and operations at HSBlox. HSBlox will focus on some health IT trends at HIMSS19.
