The UAE’s ‘Hope’ Martian probe – the Arab nation’s first interplanetary mission – is expected to reach the Red Planet in February, Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced.
The probe, which was launched on July 19, has since traveled 290 million kilometers into space, Sheikh Mohammed, who is also vice president and prime minister of the UAE, said on Twitter.

The Hope probe was developed by the UAE in collaboration with several US universities and is now controlled by specialists from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center (MBRSC) in Dubai.
