Now another similar situation appears on the horizon, because The Brazilian state of Sao Paulo will force Apple to supply a charger in its iPhone 12 box.
We are informed that this decision was recently made by Procon-SP, the consumer protection agency of Sao Paulo. More details are displayed, so this agency asked those of Apple a clarification for removing the charger from the iPhone 12 box. Proof has been requested that the lack of the charger in the iPhone 12 box will not affect consumers. The agency also asked for a list of the benefits that this abandonment of the accessory will bring to the environment.
Apple responded to Procon-SP by saying that many users already have a charger from an old iPhone and that the decision to remove it will reduce carbon emissions. The Brazilian agency was not satisfied with this response e considers the charger an essential component for using the phone.
Apple still has until tomorrow to find a clearer answer for the Procon-SP agency, otherwise it will be fined. This decision applies only to São Paulo, but could soon be extended to the whole country (Brazil).
