Apple announced! App Store commission decreases

The App Store commission has been on the agenda more than ever in the past period. The reason was the Fortnite case between Apple and Epic Games. The start of this case began with Epic Games adding their own payment system to Fortnite. By saying this is against App Store rules, Apple has removed Fortnite from the App Store. Subsequently, the other games from Epic Games also received rejection from Apple. While the case is still active, Apple has announced a new commission rate. Interestingly, the new announcement shows commission rates are low. But everything is planned.

APPLE FEE WILL DECREASE WITH THE SMALL BUSINESS APP STORE PROGRAM

Small Business App Store Program announced by Apple. According to Apple’s announcement, App Store commission rates have been reduced with this program. However, there are some rules for this reduction. In the App Store Small Business Program that Apple will commission to support small businesses, a 15% cut will be applied for App Store developers paying less than $ 1 million. Therefore, small-scale and independent application developers will be able to earn more. When the $ 1 million threshold is crossed, the cut will reach 30 percent, as applied to other major application developer companies. As you can understand, we will continue to receive a 30% commission from developers earning more than $ 1 million.

THE START DATE HAS BEEN DETERMINED

Apple’s new commission program will begin January 1, 2021. Details will be announced in December. While this program is not expected to affect the Fortnite case between Epic Games and Apple, it is not known how the process will proceed. For now it does not seem possible to add the iOS version of Fortnite to the App Store.
