Algeria has decided to cut off the water for all citizens who have previous bill debt exceeding $ 387.

Algerian Minister of Water Resources Arezki Baraki said that every citizen who has debts of more than 5 million cents (50,000 Algerian dinars) must pay the bill, otherwise the water will be cut.

This came during the minister’s oversight of the launch of an electronic application to activate the unified window system for services provided by the water sector, according to the An-Nahar newspaper.

Baraki said: “We have asked water supply institutions not to shut down the water supply for non-payment of bills at the time of the pandemic,” referring to the outbreak of the Corona epidemic.

However, the minister added, “most of these companies today suffer from bankruptcy, so every citizen who has debts exceeding 5 million cents has to pay the bill or cut the water”.
