According to the latest epidemiological data, British Columbia now has a higher rate of active COVID-19 cases than Ontario and Quebec.
On November 27, British Columbia had 181 cases of the virus active for every 100,000 people. Quebec had 135 active cases per 100,000 people and Ontario had 91 active cases per 100,000 people.
Ontario and Quebec were Canada’s hotspots during the pandemic, each of which has seen over 100,000 cases to date.

On Thursday, BC health officials reported 911 new cases of COVID-19 and 11 new deaths. It’s the highest daily tally the province has seen since the start of the pandemic.
Bonnie Henry recently implemented a series of provincial health and safety measures designed to stop the rapid spread of the virus.
Under orders, which will be in effect at least until December 7, no meetings with anyone outside of your family are allowed and community gatherings are prohibited.
Masks are mandatory in indoor public spaces, including retail stores. Indoor HIIT, spin and yoga classes have been suspended.
“We are at a critical time right now and we are seeing too many people infected with this virus,” Henry said at a news conference.
To date, British Columbia has reported 30,884 cases of COVID-19 and 395 deaths.
