A New Jersey resident captured video of a meteor crossing the northeastern states over the weekend.

The video, obtained from The Lakewood Scoop, shows the small fireball in Lakewood at around 7:16 pm, according to the timestamp on the dashcam footage.

The American Meteor Society, a nonprofit group, said it received more than 200 reports of a brilliant fireball over Connecticut and New York over the same period. The group said it also received reports from Massachusetts, Delaware, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia and Québec.

The National Weather Service, Mount Holly, has also received several reports as well as one of its forecasters noticing the bright light.

The fireball was most likely a common meteor, as the brighter the fireball, the rarer the event, according to AMS.
