Monday will be an important day for astronomers as there will be a spectacular Beaver Moon.
The full beaver moon will peak Monday morning around 9:30 am.
Illumination will only be at its peak in the last few moments, but according to NASA the full moon will still be visible this weekend as well, reports The Mirror.
NASA says, “The Moon will appear full for about three days during this time, from Saturday night to Tuesday morning.
“The darkening of the Moon during this eclipse will probably not be evident without instrumentation, but for spacecraft on the Moon such as the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) the reduction in solar energy will be evident.”
This particular full moon is known by several names, including Beaver Moon, Frost Moon, and Oak Moon.
NASA explained: “Based on the season, like the last full moon of fall, the Algonquin tribes of what is now the northern and eastern United States called this Moon the Cold Moon, due to the long, cold nights.
“Other names were Frost Moon or Winter Moon, for frosts as winter approaches. Going by month, this would be the Beaver Moon and the full moon after the next would be Cold Moon.”
If you miss this month’s full moon, the good news is there will be another full moon next month.
The Cold Full Moon will take off on December 29th.
