Several Lebanese regions have seen lines of people waiting for their turn to enter the shops that sell eggs to buy them before they are sold out in the markets.

Photos of rows of citizens in front of shops selling chicken and eggs spread on social media, “Facebook” and “Twitter” in Lebanon, for fear of high prices, especially after information about the state’s intention to remove egg subsidies.

The eggs were cut out of the Lebanese market due to the farmers’ refusal to deliver the traders according to the price that had been set on the one hand, and the traders on the other hand were prevented from selling pending the rise in prices.

In the same context, Musa Farija, president of the Lebanese Poultry Syndicate, told Al-Nashra that “the Ministry of Economy interferes in the price of eggs in this way”, indicating that “the price of eggs differs, for example, from the mechanism. price for sugar, rice and other food products. Because it requires taking into account the costs incurred by the farmer, which vary daily in light of the current dollar situation “.

The price of eggs had started to rise since last August, following the drop in production due to the crisis in imported feed. It is worth noting that the £ 12,500 price was determined by a joint decision of the Ministries of Agriculture and Economy, which calculated the cost based on the prices of the subsidized feed and supplies, before the cry of farmers who have decided to refrain from delivering their product, while traders hid their stocks until the price increased, which led to a crisis An egg shortage.
