Hermes fired the delivery boy after seeing “stealing a package” on the neighbor’s CCTV

A delivery driver was fired and charged with theft after a video appeared showing him taking a picture of a package outside his home before returning the item to his van.

The bizarre incident was spotted on CCTV by the recipient’s neighbor last Friday after she was unable to locate her order for £ 50 Sports Direct.

In the clip, the courier, who is said to work for Hermes, can be seen arriving home in Four Marks, Hampshire.

He rummages in his van for the delivery, before approaching the neighbor’s door with the item in hand.

He can then be seen placing the pack outside the home, before using the flash to take a picture.

However, he then takes the package and heads back to his vehicle. At the end of the video, he throws the item into the van and prepares to close the door.

The recipient’s neighbor, who does not wish to be identified, says she reviewed the footage after her friend received a delivery notification, but could not find her item.

She then went to Facebook to share the clip, saying, “When your neighbor’s package is ‘delivered’ by Hermes UK” with an eye-twisting emoji.

In a speech on Friday, November 27, the neighbor revealed that she believed the courier was let go.

He said: “I can’t speculate on what happened.

“All I can say is that he’s back in the van and my neighbor got a delivery notification.

“Apparently the driver was fired.

“Unfortunately reading this online seems like the tip of the iceberg in terms of” delivered “packages and not being there when people pick them up.

“In the year we’ve all had, it will make things worse for families.

“Before that we had a fantastic Hermes driver.

“Unfortunately it was moved to another round.

“Hermes seriously needs to look into their internal recruitment and proof of delivery procedures.”

A spokesperson for Hermes said, “We removed this courier last week when we were first contacted by the customer, as this is unacceptable behavior that falls below our high standards.

“We have been in contact with the customer to apologize for the inconvenience and we will also offer goodwill.”

A spokesperson for the Hampshire police said: “We are aware of this incident and have contacted the whistleblower to explain that it is a delivery dispute right now.

“If a crime is reported in due course, it will obviously be investigated.”
