Eight other stores in the York region have been accused of failing to comply with COVID-19 health protocols.
The region’s COVID-19 task force says it carried out 172 inspections on Saturday, targeting large boxes and grocery stores.
For the second consecutive day the Vaughan Mills shopping center was issued a ticket as part of the law enforcement blitz.
The mall, located north of Toronto, must pay a $ 750 fine for failing to comply with the Reopening Ontario Act. The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, located inside the mall, was also fined $ 750 separately.
Three fines were imposed at the mall on Friday for similar offenses.
Lowe’s on McNaughton Road in Vaughan was charged with violating Section 22 of the Health Protection and Promotion Act and received a $ 750 ticket while the Mazaj Lounge on Rutherford Road received a $ 750 fine for violating the Reopening Ontario Act.
Costco on Kirkham Drive in Markham along with three other Markham businesses – Yong He All Day Breakfast, Sam’s Congee Delight and PHO 72 – have all been hit with $ 750 fines.
In the past two days, 16 tickets have been issued by the task force after conducting 611 interactions.
Despite the allegations, the inspectors say that for the most part companies and customers adhere to the security measures and protocols currently in place.
The York region remains in the “red zone” and avoided lockdown measures in place in the Peel and Toronto region on Monday.
