WhatsApp tests new features with editable videos and backgrounds

Whatsapp continues to test to improve its popular messaging platform. This time, a new feature that will allow users to disable videos before sending them, as well as new features applicable to wallpapers

The platform, owned by Facebook, is working on a new feature called “Mute video,” with which users can actually mute their videos before sending them to a contact, according to the specialist site WABetainfo.

This new feature is still under development and should be available in a future update.

Similarly, WhatsApp is working on new wallpaper-related features that users can do this with set a different wallpaper for each chat and even change the opacity of the background.

Users will also be able to choose from 32 new bright wallpapers, 29 dark wallpapers, a custom wallpaper and solid colors.

WhatsApp has released these features in its beta for Android operating systems and an update for the web version and stable versions will be available soon, according to WABetaInfo.

Furthermore, WhatsApp will also replace what is currently known as archived chats for “read later”, a change that will not show notifications of new messages while chats remain in this section, with the aim of reducing interruptions. This feature is under development and is expected to reach a future build of the messaging service.

These new features come after the release of WhatsApp self-destructing messages, a feature that, when enabled, allows users to choose to automatically delete messages and files in a conversation every seven days.

The app has also redesigned hers memory management tool which now offers, in addition to cleaning tips, the ability to select and delete all files at once by checking a single box.
