Based in New York ConsenSys, a company that supports the development of Ethereum (ETH) and various other blockchain-focused initiatives, would have acquired Truffle’s team and technology.
As mentioned in a statement shared with Crowdfund Insider, Truffle Suite is one of the most widely used blockchain or DLT (Distributed Ledger Tech) development tools. Truffle provides a development environment, test framework, and resource pipeline, all wrapped up in a single solution. The terms of the acquisition were not shared publicly.
As explained in the announcement, Truffle allows users to access the compilation, linking, distribution and binary management of DLT-based smart contracts. The Truffle Suite has reportedly been downloaded over 8.5 million times and also has an active developer community.
The release also mentioned that Truffle has been a “preferred” ecosystem for blockchain developers who are looking for tools to speed up and simplify the front-end and smart contract software development process.
The announcement further noted:
“Truffle accelerated the growth of the open source Ethereum ecosystem as one of the first projects incubated by ConsenSys, and has grown a dedicated following of developers ever since. With the successful integration of Truffle with ConsenSys Quorum, Filecoin and other protocols, Truffle is aiming for the global adoption of the blockchain by enterprises. “
The Truffle Suite is used by over 1.3 million app developers around the world. Its creators focus on making Solidity development “elegant, productive and safe”. The release also noted that the free truffle boxes “contain useful modules, Solidity contracts and libraries, front-end views, and even complete sample dApps to make it easier for new developers.”
Truffle Teams allows engineering teams to collaborate on shared work across various test environments to ensure that a software program actually works “before incurring the cost of deploying on the Ethereum mainnet.”
The announcement also mentioned:
“The addition of Truffle to the ConsenSys developer product stack provides enterprise customers with a wider range of services to deploy their applications with confidence. The team will continue to build Truffle with the support of… the business development, engineering and marketing team at ConsenSys. The truffle technology will also be exploited by Quorum, Diligence and Infura “.
Joseph Lubin, founder of ConsenSys, noted that the Truffle Suite is “essential” for blockchain developers when they start developing Ethereum and Web 3.0. Lubin says Truffle is “invaluable in increasing adoption of enterprise blockchain applications and solutions.”
Introduced in 2015, Truffle serves as a development suite that allows software engineers to manage the workflow of blockchain developers that includes tasks related to developing smart contracts for front-end applications. Truffle provides the “most popular development framework for building on the Github star-based Ethereum blockchain”.
