On October 5th, the main developer of Ethereum, Péter Szilágyi announced that the plan to launch the next hard fork, Constantinople on the Ropsten Testnet, was delayed.
Péter Szilágyi explained that the decision comes collectively from the Ethereum community. The main developer claimed that the main reason behind the delay was the presence of an Ethereum virtual machine [EVM] Denial of service [DoS] vector attack. Szilágyi said the delay will allow customers to implement, test and release an update on the Ethereum CREATE2 improvement protocol [EIP], to counter the DoS attack vector.
Previously, on September 15th, another member of the Ethereum community, Eric Conner, announced that the swingarm of Constantinople will hit Ropsten Testnet on October 9th. Conner also stated that once the hard fork hit the Testnet, it will be implemented on the main chain immediately after the Ethereum Devcon 4 event, which will be held from October 30th to November 2nd.
According to Szilágyi's recent tweet, the launch of Testnet has been pushed by 1 era to block # 4230000, resulting in a delay of 5 days. The developers, however, have not commented whether the delay in the launch of Constantinople on the Ropsten Testnet will push the dates for the main launch of the Ethereum Hard Fork.
The fork of Constantinople was announced for the first time in July of this year, during a meeting between developers and stakeholders that faced problems in the blockchain space and cryptocurrency with a focus on further updates.
The development team stated that the fork was created to signal a new era in the use of the blockchain network. The community also said that Constantinople will see a convenient Mainnet and will be more efficient to use.
Cryptohulk, a fan of Twitter and cryptocurrency, said:
"Delay means problems
$ETH"
Responding to Twitterati's comment, the main developer Szilágyi assured that they were taking time because they did not want to "break the Testnet".
Afri Schoedon, another Twitterati minimalist and blockchain commented:
"Refine: 4230000 was still my favorite choice for the block".
Constantinople will be the second in the series of updates, the first of which is the Byzantine hard fork which took off in October of last year. He went live to block n. 4.370000 and includes nine Ethereum improvement protocols.
