A fast food restaurant in Kingston has closed its dining room due to an employee who tested positive for COVID-19.
The A&W restaurant located on 1155 Division St. closed its dining room Friday for sanitation after learning Friday morning that an employee tested positive for the virus, a staff member confirmed.
Employees who worked shifts with the infected individual are isolating themselves at home and working with the health unit, the staff member said.
The room will be closed for 24 hours while a “contract cleaning company” sanitizes the restaurant.
The restaurant’s drive-thru remains open.
The Kingston region saw 10 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, some related to an outbreak at the Catholic School of Our Lady of Lourdes.
The Kingston region has 26 active cases, bringing the area total to 214. None of these cases are currently hospitalized.
Due to the general “green” status of the community, Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox and Addington Public Health do not update case count information on weekends.
