Dr Heather Morrison, PEI’s head of public health, has confirmed a new case of COVID-19 in the province.
The man, who is 30, is a rolling worker who recently returned to the province after “domestic trips” out of the Atlantic bubble, a news release said.
The man initially tested negative for COVID-19 on November 6, but tested positive on November 10. The man has six close contacts and will remain in solitary confinement for 14 days, the CPHO said.
As a precaution, the CPHO advises people who have visited the following activities to monitor symptoms and get tested if they experience them:
- Red and white hardware store in Ellerslie, PEI on November 9 between 3pm and 4pm.
- Walmart in Summerside, PEI, November 10 from 9am to 10am
At this point, there is no evidence of community spread of COVID-19 on Prince Edward Island and the risk of transmission remains low, the statement said.
This new case adds to a positive case announced on Tuesday. That person was a close contact from one of two cases announced on Friday.
This brings the island’s total active cases of COVID-19 to four. Prince Edward Island has had a total of 68 positive COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.
