A “very rare, very lucky” discovery by Australian researchers working in South Africa could reveal more information on how our first human ancestors evolved.
It was recently revealed that staff from Melbourne’s prestigious La Trobe University working in a region north of Johannesburg in the east of the country two years ago discovered a male Paranthropus robustus skull, a human-like species that lived around the same time as Standing man; the species most likely to be a direct ancestor of today From the human point of view.
As a potential “cousin species” of Man standing, it has long been thought that the Paranthrthe company it became extinct earlier, having struggled to survive.
Most of the discoveries, rare in themselves, usually involve teeth or small portions of bone.
