VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A hold on rent increases for tenants in BC has been extended until July 2021.
The freeze went into effect in March, when the coronavirus was declared a global pandemic and was set to last until December.

The province announced the extension on Monday.
“We know that many renters are still facing a loss of income and even the slightest rent increase could be extremely difficult. For this reason, we are extending the freeze on rent increases to provide greater security for tenants during the pandemic, ”writes Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Selina Robinson in a statement.

Owners will have to keep rents as they are until July.

Tenants are told to ignore any rent increase notices received after March 30, 2020.
