While there may not be much to do in our social lives right now, this new business is the perfect excuse to curl up and stay up late in your backyard!
The Eta Aquarids meteor shower will light up the sky from May 5-6, peaking Tuesday night in the Southern Hemisphere, a true highlight of the cosmic calendar.
This year the shower will peak on the morning of May 6th between 2am and 5am …
But, if you sleep late or the weather isn’t great, you can still see meteors a day or two earlier or later!
So, just one day later, May 7, moon buffs can expect a “super flower moon”, which marks the fourth and final super moon of the year.
The number of meteors you will see depends on where you live in Australia.
Further west you will live you will see a little more meteors per hour because the radiant point is higher in the sky before sunrise.
You don’t need a telescope or binoculars, there should be up to 50 shooting stars per hour visible to the naked eye!
So what are you waiting for? Prepare rugs and pillows for a night you won’t forget!
