HTC was at one time the best Android device maker: in fact it was the only Android device manufacturer for a while. With the increase of Android, HTC could not keep up. It has not been very successful in launching new Android phones lately, but the company hopes the blockchain can solve its problems. Pre-announced the HTC Exodus blockchain-powered several months ago, and now HTC's Phil Chen is talking more about how the phone will work.
The new details do not cover the phone parts of this incoming phone. We still do not know what kind of screen will have, how much storage space you will have, or even if there will be a headphone jack (but I assume no). Chen is talking more about the aspects of the phone's cryptocurrency and how HTC is working to keep the phone's hardware portfolio secure.
One of the main strengths of the Expo is that you'll be able to keep your cryptocurrency and other digital assets (criptokitties, anyone?) On your phone for easy access. For some blockchain fans, the idea of keeping all their data on a device connected to the Internet is simply insane. The safest way to store cryptocurrency is the so-called "cold storage" that is not connected to any network. HTC used the ARM-on-a-chip system to create a "trusted zone" in the secure chip enclave. This encrypted location of the hardware is separate from the Android operating system, making access by third parties more difficult.
Ideally, a hardware portfolio should not be something that you carry around every day – something like a phone that is prone to loss, theft and damage. HTC has no revolutionary blockchain solution to lose your phone, but plans to make sure your encrypted wallet is not lost together.
