In Migros, some groceries will also be available for you in some branches in the future to avoid waste. The first pilot branch with the new filling stations starts in Baden AG on Thursday (today).
Migros customers could use it to fill organic food themselves, the retailer said. Up to 70 items from Migros’ own industry will be offered – including pasta, rice, legumes and nuts, breakfast cereals and confectionery. The price remains the same as the packaged goods. Reusable organic cotton bags are also available for home transport.
After Baden, there will soon be filling stations in other branches. Before a broad introduction, customers should be able to provide feedback on what works well and what can still be optimized, he said.
Migros has already surpassed its promise made in 2013 to save 6,000 tons of packaging material by the end of this year or to make it more environmentally friendly. The wholesaler plans to further reduce packaging material and plastics in 2021. For example, Aproz mineral water bottles would be converted into 100% recycled PET. (saw / sda / awp)
