The state of Kuwait ranked first among the top 10 Arab countries in terms of the increase in female obesity, with a rate of 77%, while Qatar ranks second with 75%.

A World Bank report, published by the Russian network RT, on obesity and its health and economic consequences and its prevalence rates around the world, revealed that female obesity in some Arab countries has reached record rates. The report also included the classification of obesity as a disease and one of the best-known risk factors for noncommunicable diseases.

According to the report, the network presented the top 10 Arab countries in terms of high obesity among women, as Iraq came in tenth place with 70%, Bahrain in ninth with 70.5%, Lebanon in eighth with 71.1% and Egypt in seventh with 71.3. Then, Gaza and the West Bank with 71.5%, while Libya was ranked fifth with 72%, followed by Saudi Arabia with 73.7% and Jordan in third place with 74.2%.

The World Bank report predicted that the total cost of obesity in developing countries over the next 15 years will reach more than $ 7 trillion, noting that these costs are not limited to healthcare, but also include indirect losses from absenteeism from work, low productivity and early retirement. And so on.
