GTO Engineering, a British engineering firm specializing in Ferrari, has announced the construction of Moderna, its latest project and a recreation of the iconic 250 GTO. This new vehicle is expected to weigh less than a ton and aims to celebrate the golden age of the 1960s and also follows the recently announced limited series of recreations of the legendary Ferrari 250 SWB.
The now announced model will be built on the experience gained over three decades, building, restoring and maintaining several road and racing Ferraris. It will use a tubular frame with aluminum substructures and the bodywork will be made of carbon fiber. However, the doors and hood will also be aluminum.
The highlight, in addition to a modernized version of a timeless design, is undoubtedly the engine which retains the V12 configuration with four camshafts immediately associated with the Ferrari of that time. GTO Engineering estimates that each unit will take 18 months to build and that the engine alone will consume 300 hours of labor. The prices of such an exclusive creation are not yet known.
